What is a toner pirate?

Every week we receive messages from customers concerned about strange telephone calls from someone representing himself as “Andres Marrujo” The caller tells our clients there is going to be an “enormous price increase in their copier supplies” and states “this is the last chance to purchase these supplies at the regular price”. BEWARE! THIS CALLER IS NOT CONNECTED WITH AM Copiers. These people are “toner pirates” and they are here to steal your money.
Our clients know that AM Copiers is locally owned and operated – we have no “branches” in other cities. In most cases, when you have a maintenance agreement with our office, your labor, parts and supplies (except for paper) are included. These fraudulent “toner phoners” trv to mislead you into ordering supplies you do not need at outrageously inflated prices.
If you are a customer of AM Copiers, please be aware of the following types of calls:

A friendly caller that avoids giving a firm’s name (“Hi, this is Eric from customer service and ….)
Callers that demand you take action that same day (“You must act NOW to get these low prices”)
Callers unwilling to leave a telephone number so you can call them back – usually the caller immediately
hangs up.

If you are unsure about questionable solicitation calls, please ask for a telephone number to return their call, and contact us immediately (760-352-6007). We will be more than happy to assist you in determining the caller’s validity.
